A Soccer Field for Masibambane College
The St John’s College Easter Rugby Festival has provided an excellent celebration of school boy rugby for over 15 years. Funds raised to host the event have contributed to the development of the school’s sport facilities and capacity as well as to the broader community that St John’s College serves.

St Johns College twins Masibambane College in Orange Farm. This year’s Rugby Festival has extended its reach to include funding of 60% of the uncommitted funds raised from the festival to improve the Masibambane sports capacity and facilities.

We are pleased to announce that a very generous contribution made by Murray and Dickson, through the Rugby Festival, has been utilized to excavate and level Masibambane’s only sports field to a state ready for planting of turf.  This contribution by Murray Dickson, who have a long-standing relationship with both St John’s and Masimbambane Colleges, has cost almost
R200 000.

HSBC have undertaken to continue with the project through grassing and irrigation of the field.

The Rugby Festival, Murray and Dickson and HSBC have together provided this wonderful new facility, developed from a dust bowl, into a sports facility which will not only benefit pupils at Masibambane but also the greater community of Orange Farm.

2009 Rugby Festival Chairman
