» Support of Inner City upliftment

SJC is strategically placed to assist with the upliftment of the inner city. Since 2004, St John’s College has held their annual Speech Day which is an academic occasion for the school, in City Hall, with over 1500 members of the St John’s community in attendance.

Our annual Carol Service will be held in November at St Mary’s Cathedral, the birthplace of St John’s College. The school’s first choristers were accommodated in a lean-to structure on the porch of St Mary’s Church, now Cathedral. St John’s was founded in 1898 by the rector of St Mary’s Church, Irish priest, Reverend John Darragh.

The present Deane of St Mary’s Cathedral, Gerard Sharp, will be coming on to the St John’s School Council.
