Admissions Criteria

ADMISSIONS CRITERIA

 

  • In line with our mission statement, St John’s College will endeavour to accept any boy or girl who shows the potential to be “Rightly trained in Body, Mind and Character and who serves God well.” 
    All pupils’ admissions to St John’s College is at the discretion of the Heads of the Sixth Form, College, Preparatory, Pre-Preparatory and Bridge Nursery School.
    Admission is not automatic for any child and there may be occasions where the school ascertains that the pupil is likely to thrive in a different academic environment.  The Heads will be guided by the following criteria for preferential acceptance; however, they are not bound by them:

  • Siblings of pupils already attending the College, Prep, Pre-Prep, or the Bridge
  • Children of Old Johannians 
  • Children of Anglican Clergy 
  • Transformation candidates 
  • Date of application
  • Parental financial stability 
  • Parental community commitment
  • Academic ability and work ethic 
  • Applicant pupils displaying particular strength in various fields including sport and music 
  • Applicant pupil’s behavioural record

Again, guided by these criteria, the Heads have the right to review acceptance at the following levels: 

St John’s College is an independent school and embraces diversity, and in so doing reserves the right to accept any boy or girl at the school’s discretion. 
All pupils will receive automatic acceptance from The Bridge Nursery School into the Pre-Preparatory School, from the Pre-Preparatory School into the Preparatory School, and from the Preparatory School into Remove (Grade 8), provided the boy and parents (where applicable) have a sound: 

  • Work ethic 
  • Behavioural record 
  • Fee payment record

All admissions will be subject to both parent and pupil’s (where applicable) non-negotiable acceptance, of the following policy documents: ·

  • Pupil Code of Conduct 
  • Payment of fees 
  • Statement of spirituality
