School Policy – Cellular Telephones
  • Cellular Telephones are permitted at St John’s Preparatory School.
  • Cellular Telephones may not be switched on during the school day from 7.30 until 10.30 and from 11.00 until 1.30.
  • If a boy is found using his phone when not permitted to do so, the phone will be confiscated until the end of term.
  • No cellular telephones may be handed to the school secretary or any other member of staff for safekeeping.
  • Any boy found with any pornography or any other distasteful material on his phone will be dealt with severely and parents will be informed.
  • Any boy using his phone to disseminate hurtful information about other boys will be dealt with severely and parents will be informed.
  • No Prep boy should be accessing Facebook or any similar site as these are age restricted sites.
  • Any videoing or the taking of photographs will not be permitted unless under staff supervision.
  • The school will not take any responsibility whatsoever for a cellular telephone which is lost or stolen.
  • The school trusts that the boys will be responsible for their cellular telephones and we recommend that they are not brought to school unless it is absolutely necessary.
