Geography Department
Geographical skills and knowledge are integral to the understanding and appreciation of the environment in which we live. Responsible citizenship is fostered through an appreciation of the inter-dependence of society, nature, water, air, soil, vegetation and even the urban environment.

Geography is an important subject in that it encompasses and unites scientific, mathematical and language skills. Boys are taught an appreciation of the sustainable use of the environment in which they live. Skills such as reading and interpreting maps; using symbols, scale, distance and direction; graphical and drawing skills and the translating of mapped information into the written word are taught.

We incorporate modern teaching equipment into our daily programme, using smart board technology to teach map-work skills and graph interpretation. Practical work includes the usage of Google Earth and Garmin GPS systems.

We also deal with natural and possible future disasters in more detail, concentrating on current world wide events and epidemics/pandemics.
