Another glorious day of school boy rugby under blue skies on the final day of the St John’s College Easter Rugby Festival.

Some highlights for the day included:

Italian visitors Viadana made two wins out of three on the third and final day of the 20th St John’s College Easter Rugby Festival, brought to you by Standard Bank, when they wiped out a twelve point deficit and scored three tries in the last twelve minutes to beat Pietermaritzburg’s St Charles by 24 points to 19. The comeback trend continued in game two when the golden Lions Presidents 15 were 19 points to nil down against the hosts St John’s when a Joseph  Kamangu changed the nature of the game in the  second half and St John’s recorded their first win of the festival by 24 points to 14.

In game three Stellenbosch’s Paarl Roos almost let a 17 points to 3 lead slip through their fingers against Monument. But they held on grimly despite two unconverted tries by the men from Krugersdorp. KZN power house Hilton scored five tries in their win over St Benedict’s in spite of centre Keegan Marengo’s personal contribution of 10 points. Hilton recorded their second victory at St John’s by 34 points to 20.

In the match up of the weekend Nelspruit tied one on with Jeppe. The lead changed hands five times with a penalty seven minutes from time, swinging the result Nelspruit’s way. Jeppe centre Damian Paysley had an opportunity in the last seconds of the match to give his team victory with a long range penalty but it sailed underneath the bar leaving him and his team distraught. Nelspruit had one of the best campaigns of the festival with wins over Hilton and Garsfontein.

Paarl Boys High produced yet another scintillating performance in overcoming the mass and power Pretoria school Garsfontein led from the front by their fullback Jean Luc Cilliers who joined the back line and kicked aplomb to ensure that his team ran out the victors by
