Limited Hospitality tickets are also available at R200 per day, offering shaded seating on the main court and access to the VIP lounge adjacent to the main court with a dedicated bar and food vendor.

Please note that St John’s College is a cashless venue. SnapScan and debit and credit cards will be accepted.

The U19 and U15 competition format includes a round-robin phase with top sides going on to play in the knockout stages, and U13 age-group categories play a festival format over the four days.

There is plenty of exciting court-side action to look forward to. The Tournament features local schools, inter-provincial teams from the Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal and welcomes neighbouring countries Eswatini and Zimbabwe.  We are excited to welcome our returning teams and newcomers to the courts.

This four-day event promises loads of fun for the whole family with food vendors providing plenty to eat and drink, a bar that will be open from 10h00 until 18h00 and Chill Out Lounges where you can relax in between games.

“We are delighted to be inviting some of our great Southern African schools to compete in this premier boys’ school basketball tournament,” says Mr Stuart West, Executive Headmaster at St John’s College.

“There are many valuable character-building lessons to be learned on the courts — passion, commitment, hard work, perseverance and dealing with success or disappointment graciously. We encourage our players to commit to good sportsmanship and fair play throughout the Tournament as we celebrate the new friendships made this weekend as we engage in keen competition and healthy rivalry.”

Tournaments of this nature would not be possible without the support of our sponsors. Thank you to our headline partner Standard Bank, for their ongoing partnership with St John’s College.

“We are proud to be associated with the St John’s College Basketball Tournament, as we believe that it presents participants with the chance to learn from competition and challenges, two vital aspects of life. We are firm believers in the power of sport to change lives through out long-standing commitment to the school, and we know that this tournament will help advance that goal,” says Tshiamo Molanda, Head: Youth and Mass Market PPB SA.

We are also grateful to AVIS for joining us this year, as well as our media partner SuperSport Schools, who are livestreaming the games free of charge to family and fans across the world.

“Avis is proud to support the St John’s College Basketball Tournament, which exemplifies our commitment to fostering youth development in sports. Adhering to our brand philosophy – ‘people are more important than cars’ – we are delighted to align with an event that echoes our values of community, excellence and growth,” say Litha Nkobmisa, Avis Chief Sales Executive.

We are also grateful to PPS for bringing the Manguang Knights from the Free State to the tournament this year.

“The Basketball Committee has worked tirelessly in planning this event, and I would like to thank the Chairman of the Parents’ Basketball Committee, Mr Jameson Hlongwane and his team of parents for their enormous effort in supporting basketball at St John’s College. I would also like to thank our staff for their time, expertise and commitment to the Tournament,” said Mr West.

We wish the players, coaches, managers, officials, and spectators – at the courts and at home – a terrific weekend of competitive basketball. We trust that our boys will build many friendships, hone their skills, and compete keenly on the court.

We look forward to seeing you at the courts. And, if you can’t make it to the games, download the SuperSport Schools app to enjoy them live from wherever you are.

You can also follow the St John’s College social media pages and the hashtag #SJCBasketball2024 for regular updates on what is happening at the courts.
