» OPERATIONS MANAGER

St John's College seeks to appoint an experienced person to the position of Operations Manager. This new, full-time position, reporting to the Business Manager, will play a key role in the overall management of the entire school and its associate entities. Duties will include:

  • Management of the Operations Department and staff, including budgets, procurement and work-request tracking
  • Responsibility for estate, grounds, gardens, maintenance and buildings
  • Management of external contractors responsible for cleaning, swimming pools, maintenance, grounds and gardens
  • Security of the campus, including the external guarding company and the various contracts for security service
  • Management of the maintenance, bookings and usage of the astroturf hockeyfield, waterpolo pool and squash courts
  • Responsibility for school buses, trailers and other vehicles
  • Responsibility for occupational health and safety, including fire-detection and fire-fighting equipment

The candidate will preferably have some form of tertiary technical education. Applicants should have a minimum of 6-8 years of previous experience in managing a large facility such as a golf estate, campus or housing estate. Computer literacy and experience, particularly with the MS-Office suite, is nonnegotiable. A sound work ethic, good people skills, strong organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise and schedule workflows, and a positive attitude are important requirements for the job. The person also needs to support the Christian ethos of the school.
