Cultural: Public Speaking
Public speaking is a valuable life skill and boys at the Prep are introduced to speaking in public from a very early age.

Each year the Prep holds the Edith Cooke Public Speaking Contest where the top speaker in each year group is recognised. Boys present 2-3 minute prepared speeches as well as having the daunting task of presenting unprepared 1 minute speeches at the same event.

Every term, a boy from each class is selected to participate in the Inter-School Public Speaking Festival known as Chatterbox. In the Easter and Trinity terms, the festival requires pupils to present a 2-3 minute prepared speech on a given topic, while in Michaelmas term, pupils present 1 minute impromptu speeches. We aim to involve as many boys as possible in these festivals and encourage their eager participation.
