St John's College

St John’s Sixth Form is proud to announce another exceptional set of AS and A Level results in the Cambridge Assessment International Education examinations, something we have consistently achieved since 1972.

The subject pass rate of the students who wrote the A Level in 2021 was 97% - 82% of students achieved A to C symbols across all subjects, 18% of our symbols were over 90% in one or more A Level subjects and 46% were over 80% in one or more subjects.

A special congratulations go to our top student Raeesah Jadwat who has already been offered a place to study Physics and Philosophy at the Univesity of Oxford.

"In addition to all our students' success, Raeesah has shown herself to be a talented academic. Her involvement in all areas of school life and her ability to achieve 4 A* at A Level show her commitment to her dreams. I have no doubt that she will involve herself fully at Oxford and continue to reach her potential," said Mr Paul Emant, the newly appointed Head of Sixth Form.

We also congratulate our Lower VI students, 25% of whom achieved A symbols across their subjects boding well for their Upper VI A Level class in 2022. (Please note, no A* awarded in AS Levels).

The consistency in the overall results are impressive, and a tribute to the dedication and flexibility of the Sixth Form teachers who take on this responsibility along with their College teaching commitments. "We thank and salute them, this is a testimony to the academic strength of our school,” said former Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Kate Byrne, who retired at the end of last year after 20 years at the helm.

“I am particularly proud that our Sixth Form students and staff achieved this exceptional level of excellence in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic during 2021. It is no small feat to reach this level of academic achievement under the circumstances,” said Mr Stuart West, Executive Headmaster at St John’s College.

We wish the Class of 2021 Upper VI leavers the very best as they start their university careers either in South Africa or abroad. We know they are well prepared for the next stage of their academic journey.
