The OJA hosted three Eminent Speaker Breakfasts in the first part of 2024. Each presentation provided a deep understanding of complex issues and current trends and was followed by conversation, networking opportunities and breakfast at the OJ Club.

Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Wits, Prof. Zeblon Vilakazi, opened the series in January with an inspired and inspiring presentation that considered the value and impact of technology and AI on teaching, learning and innovation. His brilliant talk was both informative and refreshingly accessible, encouraging critical thought around the role of technology and how it will shape our lives.

In May, a full auditorium welcomed Dr Frans Cronje (Thomson 1995) to hear his political and economic observations and predictions for South Africa, just ahead of this year’s critical national election. By outlining defining factors and how these may affect our country’s immediate future, Frans’ analytical and data-driven address identified possible trajectories.
