Thomas Mahlomotja behind the bar in The Boar's Head

Thomas Mahlomotja has been a familiar friendly face to many Johannians over the years. Thomas joined The Johannian Club from the Sandton Sun back in 1991 when he took up his position behind the bar in The Boar’s Head.

After 28 years of loyal service he will soon retire and return to his home in Limpopo to be with his family. Thomas hails from Limpopo where his wife Grace and four sons still reside. His only daughter, who is married, lives in Pretoria with his two grandchildren.

“Working in Johannesburg and only visiting Grace when I could was not the best way to be married," he says, “but it is now time to live with her properly and take care of her.”

Thomas says he has had wonderful working relationships with the various Chairmen and committees of the Old Johannian Association over the years, and has made some very good friends with the Johannian community.

“I will miss everyone very much, but I know it is time to be with my wife and family.”

We are all going to miss Thomas’s friendly smile and helpful nature too. The Old Johannian Association would like to invite all Johannians to raise a glass to Thomas's years of service and retirement on Friday, 28 June at The Johannian Club. Please pop in anytime from from 12pm until 8pm to say goodbye.
