On 17 October, St John's College proudly unveiled the Beyond 125 Donor Wall at a glittering event in the Rene England Auditorium. Mr Stuart Stuart West, Executive Headmaster, described the wall as a "rich tapestry serving as a visual testament to the generosity of our incredible community, reminding us that every contribution makes a difference."
Mr West welcomed benefactors, friends, and supporters, expressing deep gratitude while highlighting the lasting impact of the Beyond 125 Campaign on our immediate community. Guests were treated to an inspiring piano solo of Chopin’s Impromptu No. 2 in F Major, performed by Lebeko Mosunkutu (LV Fleming), recipient of the Charles Greig Rolex Scholarship.
Mr Mickey Mashego, Head of Community Engagement, spoke about the growth of the St John's College Academy, noting that the programme's access to students has doubled in the last year. He also acknowledged the role of those who support our mission of creating access to education through scholarships, noting that their generosity allows St John’s to “identify high calibre students who ordinarily would not form part of the student body due to financial means but enrich the educational experience of all students at St John’s College”.
Siza Gule (Head of School) passionately spoke from his own experience about how scholarships create profound opportunities. Ms Shelley Roberts, Head of Advancement, marked the occasion by raising a toast to our wonderful community and the over 800 donors whose names are inscribed on the Beyond 125 Donor Wall, urging our community to continue sharing our story.
The unveiling of the donor wall marks a new chapter in the school’s journey. It reflects the power of community in shaping our future while acknowledging those who have contributed to making St John’s a place of growth and opportunity.
A special thank you goes to our College Marimba Band for their superb performance.
