The start of the year at St John’s College is marked by the wonderful tradition of Community Mass on Burger Field, presided over by The Visitor, The Right Revd Dr Steve Moreo, Bishop of Johannesburg.
Dr Ben Oosthuizen steps down from his role as the Director of Music at St John’s College as he retires after 37 years of distinguished service. During this time, he has made a profound and positive contribution to the college, music students and music education in South Africa.
Thanks to you our amazing St John's College community, we managed to raise R7 058 747 on our first-ever Giving Day with nine ‘matching’ funders, 543 donors and 22 teams from 10 different countries!

The 2nd Archbishop Emeritus Tutu Memorial Mass & Lecture held in the Memorial Chapel on Sunday, 8 October, was a profound event presided over by our College Chaplains with a special guest lecture by The Revd Frank Chikane.
The Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu Walk was held on Saturday, 7 October, on what would have been the late Arch’s 92nd birthday, bringing communities together for a pilgrimage to reflect and connect with the people and spaces around them.
The St John’s College community, family, and friends gathered on Burger Field with picnic baskets, blankets and deck chairs for a splendid evening of light and sound as we celebrated 125 years of St John’s College at Light on the Night.
Loadshedding could hardly have been better designed to impact our mental well-being. It is unpredictable, beyond our control, consequential, and unlikely to end soon. These factors create a recipe for stress and impacts our emotional, physical and mental health.
