The St John’s College Academy Valedictory Service is always a bitter-sweet occasion as we celebrate the achievements of our boys and young men and bade farewell to our Grade 7s and 12s. This year was no different as the Academy students from the Prep and College gathered in the Memorial Chapel with their parents, teachers and friends of the Academy.
St John’s College Celebrated the Upper UV Speech Day on Thursday 13 October, in Pelican Quad. This is always a special occasion as we celebrate and recognise matric achievers, our dedicated staff and their supportive parents.

The Trinity Term edition of CollegeLife celebrates the busyness of a busy term overflowing with events, activities and achievements.
The 114th annual Interhouse Athletics Championships took place on Wednesday 3 August, on Rice and Mitchell Fields, with our young athletes competing in a number of track and field events in their respective houses.
The Johannian Community is saddened to learn of the passing of John Stuart Kane-Berman (Head of Alston 1963).
St John’s Prep hosted their annual Polar Bear Swim, taking to the icy waters of Long Walk Pool to help raise funds for the completion of the new Aquatics Centre, raising enough money to get Stuart West, Executive Headmaster at St John's College, and Lester Lalla, Preparatory Headmaster into the freezing water.
South Africa was sad to learn of the passing of well-known film and entertainment critic and print and broadcast journalist Barry Ronge. Barry was renowned for being bravely outspoken and was internationally respected for his wit and intellect. What is less widely known is that Barry taught English and Afrikaans at St John’s College from 1969 to 1971.
Joshua Boulle (UV Clayton), First XV Captain and his outside centre partner Joel Leotlela (UV Nash) have been selected for the SA Schools Rugby squad, the first time in the history of St John's that two players have been selected.
St John's College and the Old Johannian Association are proud to announce the recipients of the 2022 Golden Eagle Award that was conferred to three deserving Old Johannians on Gaudy Day in recognition and celebration of the extraordinary impact they have made in South Africa and internationally.
