St John's College

Sixth Formers are taught in the College by experienced staff, using the excellent facilities St John’s College has to offer.

The Sixth Form does, however, have its own independent centre – Runge House. Here students have their own common room, kitchen, studies and resources and the House provides both a social and tutorial centre.

Their academic and pastoral needs are met and their progress monitored by the head and assistant head.

Sixth Form boarding

Sixth Form boys and girls (approximately 50) are accommodated in six small single-sex units. The accommodation in, and management of, Sixth Form pupils is much the same as for the boys in the College.

Each boarding house is managed by a Houseparent, an Assistant Houseparent, and other members of staff who are either academic staff members or resident tutors who are senior students at university. All boarding staff members are resident in the boarding houses, and are easily accessible to the boys and girls. Boarding is very much a “home away from home” atmosphere.
