At St John’s, we believe that swimming is a life skill and we ensure that every boy becomes a confident and capable swimmer.
During the Easter and Michaelmas terms, one of the two class PE lessons is spent in the swimming pool where we work on strokes, speed, endurance and racing technique. During the Easter Term, every boy swims in the Inter-house Tabloid Gala.
We have A and B teams and galas are held on Friday afternoons. Swimmers are expected to attend at least one of the two early morning training sessions and the afternoon team swimming practice where they are able to challenge their peers for a spot in the team. Boys need not be a member of the team to attend these practices.
