St John's College

St John’s fosters a growth mindset and strives to develop young men who are accustomed to thinking out of the box. Academic excellence and an involvement in a variety of extramural activities ensures an all-round and creative approach to education. Each pupil at the College is encouraged to excel through meaningful and unique experiences.

The College follows the National Senior Certificate curriculum examined by the Independent Examination Board.

St John’s College is particularly proud of its high academic standard and achievements in all subjects. Participation in the Sciences is significant with more than 85% of Lower IV (Grade 9) pupils choosing Science as a subject to take to matric in any given year.

Every year boys are encouraged to participate in Olympiads and Expos, and the College is proud of their long record of outstanding achievements.

St John’s College is aware of its responsibility to develop young men of integrity who are able to excel academically and become men of significance in and for Africa.

Academic support

The role of the Academic Support Centre has become more influential in the life of the school. This role is to coordinate appropriate academic support for College boys.
