We seek to appoint a senior French teacher from January 2020. Responsibilities include heading up French at St John’s College from Grade 8 to 10 level as well as at post-matric level. In addition, the teacher appointed will be expected to involve themselves in co-curricular and pastoral duties within the school. Members of staff are expected to support the Christian ethos of the school.

The successful candidate will have the ability to deliver quality teaching that drives achievement and inspires a love of learning. You will be able to demonstrate experience of achieving positive outcomes for students, as well as being passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people. As a committed team player, you will have excellent organisational skills and the natural ability to motivate both students and peers.

Minimum requirements

Have a university degree and professional qualification as well appropriate experience teaching French

Mathematics Teacher

The Mathematics department is a large department of highly professional teachers functioning with a strong collegial ethos. In addition to Mathematics, we offer three classes of AP Mathematics in grades 10 to 12, and A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics in the Sixth Form programme.

We seek to appoint an individual from January 2020 who demonstrates:

  • a love of mathematics and enthusiastically shares their passion with their students
  • a belief in the potential of their students, and sees them as active participants in learning
  • excellent content knowledge of mathematics
  • a commitment to their own lifelong learning
  • an ability to produce high quality assessments and analysis of student performance
  • taking on extra responsibilities within the department as required by the Head of Maths

The successful candidate will be able to work well within a team. S/he should be computer literate and make appropriate use of ICT within lessons. S/he will be someone with a real enthusiasm for this popular subject who is able to motivate and challenge our articulate and questioning students. We are looking for a person with vision, drive and sound judgement.

Minimum requirement

A Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or similar degree

Teaching experience at high school or tertiary level

SACE registered

Desirable attributes

Experience in teaching AP Mathematics and/or A-level Mathematics

Familiar with the demands of Cambridge or IEB assessments
