St John’s College recently celebrated the ongoing contribution of liturgical musicians and the 60th birthday of the Organ in the Memorial Chapel with two significant events.

The 118th Annual Inter-House Swimming Gala took place in the Aquatics Centre over three days — Monday, 27 January, Tuesday, 28 January, and Thursday, 30 January — bringing together our students from across the College and Sixth Form to show off their swimming talent and House spirit.

St John’s College commenced the year with the annual Community Mass on Burger Field, framed by the iconic northern facade of the school. The Right Revd Dr Steve Moreo, Bishop of Johannesburg, presided as Celebrant, continuing a much-loved tradition that sets the tone for the academic year.

In his first address to the school in 2025, Siza Gule (Head of School) reflected on St John's College's legacy of hope and resilience, inspired by the Reverend Fitzwilliam Carter's leadership during a time of crisis.

In Michaelmas Term, we celebrated several milestones that highlight the spirit and success of our students and community. The Matric Class of 2024 completed their final exams on 25 November, with a heartfelt send-off from parents. Newly inducted School and House Prefects, led by Head of School Siza Gule, were recognised for their leadership, with special mention of the Heads of Service for their role in shaping the school culture.

St John’s Sixth Form is delighted to announce the exceptional achievements of its 2024 cohort in the Cambridge AS and A Level examinations, a testament to our students' dedication, hard work, and resilience.

This is the biggest boys’ school tournament in Southern Africa and an unmissable opportunity for brands looking to connect with this vibrant youth market and their families.

The annual UV Visual Arts Exhibition was a glittering evening that beautifully captured the theme of Truth and Fiction. Giant silver balls and shimmering decor made attendees feel like they had, like Alice, stepped through the looking glass into another world where reality and imagination intertwined.

On 17 October, St John's College proudly unveiled the Beyond 125 Donor Wall at a glittering event in the Rene England Auditorium. Mr Stuart Stuart West, Executive Headmaster, described the wall as a "rich tapestry serving as a visual testament to the generosity of our incredible community, reminding us that every contribution makes a difference."
