It was with great pleasure that we welcomed Mr Wandile Mthiyane to deliver the keynote address at this year's Hugh Lewin Memorial Human Rights Lecture. Mr Mthiyane is an award-winning, world-renowned architect, Obama Leader, TEDx Fellow, and global social entrepreneur who has built his career on the belief that architecture is more than just buildings. It’s about creating homes, both physically and psychologically.

St John’s College commenced the year with the annual Community Mass on Burger Field, framed by the iconic northern facade of the school. The Right Revd Dr Steve Moreo, Bishop of Johannesburg, presided as Celebrant, continuing a much-loved tradition that sets the tone for the academic year.

In his first address to the school in 2025, Siza Gule (Head of School) reflected on St John's College's legacy of hope and resilience, inspired by the Reverend Fitzwilliam Carter's leadership during a time of crisis.

In Michaelmas Term, we celebrated several milestones that highlight the spirit and success of our students and community. The Matric Class of 2024 completed their final exams on 25 November, with a heartfelt send-off from parents. Newly inducted School and House Prefects, led by Head of School Siza Gule, were recognised for their leadership, with special mention of the Heads of Service for their role in shaping the school culture.

St John’s Sixth Form is delighted to announce the exceptional achievements of its 2024 cohort in the Cambridge AS and A Level examinations, a testament to our students' dedication, hard work, and resilience.
