Societies have long had an interest in the ways in which their young are prepared for citizenship and in how they learn to take part in civic and social justice. However, there is evidence that no country has achieved the level of understanding and acceptance of the rights and responsibilities among the totality of its citizens that is required for the maintenance and improvement of any constitutional democracy.

Every boy will have one lesson a week of SCJC, which is an acronym for Social and Civic Justice through Christ which will be taught by a teacher and a chaplain. The lessons will be focussed on teaching the boys about social and civic justice in relation to Christian teaching.
